ABOUT ORYAORI
ORYAORI is a lifestyle brand based in Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand. We bring together home fragrance, personal care and objects for the home—things chosen to feel good to use and to add comfort and character to familiar spaces and routines.
Our name
ORYAORI began with our family. In 2019, as we prepared to welcome our first child, we named our daughter Orya. Ori was another name we loved and hoped to give to a future child.
Both names have meanings connected with light in Hebrew. Together, they became ORYAORI. For our family, the name also reflects a belief we hold close: “God is light.”
Our faith is part of the story behind ORYAORI. We want it to be expressed in practical ways: working honestly, taking responsibility for what we offer and treating people with respect.
What we make and choose
Some ORYAORI products are made by us in small batches here in Christchurch; others are selected by us. We will always be clear about which is which.
As the range grows, the categories may broaden, but every product must still earn its place. We would rather offer fewer things we can stand behind than add something simply to fill a collection.
How we work
· Made or selected with care. We test the products we make and take time over the pieces we choose.
· Clearly described. We explain materials, fragrance, use and care in plain language, without claims we cannot support.
· Good to live with. A product should work as intended, be pleasing to use or live with, and suit real homes and routines.
· Straightforward service. We answer questions honestly and handle problems clearly and fairly, without pressure.
Let life shine
We believe every life has a light of its own. It may be easy to recognise in joyful moments and harder to see during times of change or uncertainty, but it does not disappear. Sometimes we find it again in ordinary things: sunlight across a room, a familiar scent, the comfort of looking after ourselves, or an object that makes home feel more personal.
For us, Let life shine is not about presenting life as perfect. It is a reminder that difficult times are not the whole story, and that joy can return in small, real ways. We hope the things we make and choose can bring a little more warmth and enjoyment to everyday life.
